Do you ever feel like a mouse in a maze?
You run along through life, hit a wall, turn and keep running, hit another wall, then turn and keep on running?
It's tiring, and is it just me, or are there more walls these days?
When I would hit a wall (I mean a challenge, error or other impediment to the plan...it's a metaphor! I'm fancy like that!) I used to ask myself "What do I do?" and in the maze of life, the answer to that question is "Go left" or "go right". In the busy-busy-go-go of living, we ask our brains "What do I do?" and brain says "GO THAT WAY" and we go without much further thought. It's what we've always done, it's easier and it just keeps us moving.
But it's not always the best answer.
It's the easiest answer, and the quickest to pop into our brains, but sometimes there's a better option.
So ask yourself this instead.
"HOW ELSE CAN I SOLVE THIS?"
And here's how that conversation goes in your head.
You: How else can I solve this?
Brain: Well, we could do this, or this, or maybe that, or that other thing might work, or we could try...
You see what happens? Your brain starts spitting out options rather than shooping you the quick answer. You're now the mouse who hits the wall and climbs up to see all the options!
How do you think that might change the results you get and the outlook you have?
BAM! Give that one a shot.
