New Year’s Resolutions Recharge

mid-week-main-1

How you doing with those resolutions?

I used to work in the gym industry, and we would all roll our eyes and dread the first couple weeks of every year because all the resolutionists would be in there, clogging up the works.  But it was ok.  By February, they were all gone and the gym was back to normal.

I don’t want you to be that person!  Revisit that resolution list.  Pick one that you’re going to work on this week.  Maybe you have 10 on your list, but honestly, with everything else you have going on, working on 10 at a time while keeping all the other balls in the air might be unrealistic.

Grab one, and plan when you’re going to work on it.

One of my resolutions is to read 12 books this year.

(mostly because I have PILES of books I’ve purchased with full intent of reading, but it never made it off the shelf.  Admit it, you’ve got that pile too!)

I knew that the only way I would actually achieve this, is to make a plan for when I would read.

I decided that if I was home chillin' in front of the TV, I would turn it off at 9pm and read.  It’s supposed to be better for your sleep quality to turn off the screens....BONUS!

I’ve been doing it since January 3, and I’ve already finished 4 books!  Half are professional or personal development, and the other 2 were just fun autobiographies.  Heck, at this rate, I’ll hit my 12 by February, and can move on to my other resolutions!

But the beauty is this.  Reading to close out my day is becoming a habit, which is the meaningful change I’m ultimately trying to achieve.  So what will actually happen when I move on to my next resolution, reading will remain, and I won’t need to make it a resolution again next year.  I’ll just be doing it.

IMAGINE THAT!
